Thinking Space Systems has over 20 years of experience in the design and manufacture of innovative and stylish control room furniture for security, air traffic, transport, broadcast, plant and process, and emergency services. As an engineering company, we have the in-house skills to create furniture designs to suit the most challenging requirements.
But where did it all start?
The Beginning
Engineer Wayne Palmer forms Thinking Space Systems. He develops the TSS aluminium build system to create control room consoles from his parent’s dining room
“The Barns”
Based in “The Barns” at Fishers Pond (Eastleigh), Wayne meets business partner and Director Paul Atkins, and employees grew to nine. This was not including a far from friendly bull in the next field!
Exclusive Distributor for Kanya
Thinking Space becomes the UK distributor for Kanya, a Swiss aluminium build system for industrial applications
The First Move
The first factory premises, Unit 2 The Quadrangle, Romsey in Hampshire
Exclusive Distributor for Novus
The Novus ergonomic desk accessories range is added to the portfolio of products, as Thinking Space Systems become sole UK distributors.
The Evolution Media Wall
We launch our own monitor mounting system, the Evolution media wall
Australian Representation
Techniche are appointed to represent Thinking Space as agents in Australia and the Far East
Move Number 2
Outgrowing existing premises with seventeen staff and the need for extra factory space, Thinking Space moved across the road to Unit 10b. This came with 15,000 square feet floor area, doubling our previous premises.
Birthday, Celebrations and A New Company
26 staff celebrated the 10th birthday of Thinking Space and providing innovative office furniture and high-performance solutions. Paul Roberts joined the board of Directors. Broadcast furniture specialists MW Video Systems was added to the portfolio.
Thinking Space “Down Under”
Thinking Space launch a new company Thinking Space Systems Pty Ltd at IFSEC 2014.
Office Refurbs, New Staff and New Vehicles
An upgrade to offices to accommodate 33 employees, a new van and new hybrid company cars arrive.
New Printing Production Line
Thinking Space receive government funding from the Solent LEP Partnership Programme to provide a large format digital printer. This is used to print textures and graphics onto our aluminium console panels, aiding the company to provide more innovative office designs.
New Evolution Media Wall Design
Launching our new improved media wall design to include enhanced foot details, cable management and easier assembly on site.
20th Year Anniversary
In 2023, we celebrated our 20th Anniversary. As part of the celebrations, Thinking Space employees and their families enjoyed days out organised by the company’s Culture & Wellbeing club including trips to Marwell Zoo and the Hawk Conservancy.
